The Start - February 2nd
Date Posted: 02-17-2005 at 03:21 PM
Today both the whole family stayed home from work and school due to whether.

I was checking my email and ran accross a post in one of my messages about someone hosing an adoption information party. Always considering adoption I emailed to find out more information and see if we could attend.

While waiting on a response my husband and I discussed where we are at and our family is at right now. We had always said we would like to adopt a son and we aren't getting any younger.

Then I did some research and found out that you don't have to be a home owner, and you don't have to have perfect credit to adopt.

So, I made a call to the state and got some basic info and filled out a form online requesting more info.

Preparing for the initial inhome consultation - February 9th
Date Posted: 02-17-2005 at 03:24 PM
Wow, the state called and we set up an appointment for February 10th at 9:15 am.

The night was spent making touchups here and there to the house.

It is amazing how many dustbunnies come out of hiding when you are going to have a visitor. I don't think I have ever seen so much dust in a house in all my life, where did it all come from?

In-home consultation - February 10

Woke up early and continued fixing up the house. Very nervous.
______________

The home visit went well, he didn't look at much of the house, just got an idea of the space we have.

He also told me about the back log and how lucky we were to get a call so soon after we make the initial call (he is still interviewing people from last July). I wonder if it has to do with the fact that we looked online at specific kids and found a boy and a girl that we are interested in, and because we want 2-3 kids (at least 2 boys) between 6 and 11 years old. He did tell me that the ones we had specified an interest in may not be available, and that there are 40 kids available in the NWA area. But that doesn't garuntee us anything because the match the family for the child.

Also, he told me that there are no social workers at this time in the area, so that is why the huge back log.

The next training is the end for February. We may be pushing it to get our paperwork in, in time to make the classes.

Pride Classes - June

Attended and finished Pride classes in June. Met some nice other couples even met one in our county.

Moved - July
Date Posted: 01-02-2006 at 05:52 PM
We didn't turn in all of our paperwork during class because we knew we would be moving in July.

Now there is so much work to do before our homestudy.
