| Obviously, we're still waiting... In the past several months, we've learned the following: Our agency has only had TWO placements since January. (We just learned that last month) As we've looked at switching agencies, we've learned that there are a lot of disreputable agencies and facilitators out there. If going with a private agency, you need a LOT of money to enter the adoption game as a serious contender. Nobody really knows how this thing works. People who say that they have the answers are delusional. Everyone wants our money! Without going into great detail, we'll just say that we have found a new agency that seems to meet our needs. Also, we've decided to pursue a fully open adoption. This decision has been based upon a lot of reading and soul searching. Actually, I'm glad that it has taken us this long to reach this point, because had we matched any sooner than now, I think we would have had a much different relationship with a potential birthfamily than we now desire. So, we're saving more $$$ to meet the fees of the new agency. We'll probably spend the rest of 2009 as DINKs, but that's just the way it goes. |
