Spring is in the air!!!

As a native Californian living in New England, I tend to hate the weather. However, New England has one thing California does not: spring fever. I never felt excited about the change of seasons growing up, because seasons didn't change so much. I was just comfortable all the time. Now, I feel a surge of happiness when the weather begins to change and I can say goodbye to freezing my butt off and shoveling snow.

Winter's not over yet, but the snow crocuses just started coming up in the yard and I have started violas and pansies in the house to put outside in a few more weeks. The vegetable seeds are purchased and plans are in the works for building a big backyard vegetable garden and a play house for Tia (and future fosters). What makes life even better right now is that my tax return just came back. Yeah, adoption tax credit!!! I just bought a new dinnette set for the kitchen and have plans for outdoor solar lighting and a fire bowl for the patio. The weather is only slightly warmer and the days a tad longer, but my body is getting back into wanting activity as well. I have plans to finish our bathroom floor and painting this weekend. Life is good!

And since this journal is on an adoption site, I will also note that Tia is doing fantastic the last three days! Some things have changed. We changed her bedtime to earlier to help with the crankiness. She hates that, but boy does it help her keep her oppositional behavior in check. We also considered sending her to morning camp at the YMCA so she won't fight with me all morning. Barbara asked about it in front of Tia, but never said why, and that keeps Tia on her best-behavior toes. We also started letting her wear her bedwetting alarm every other night with assurance that soon she won't have to wear it at all. She can't wait to get rid of that thing. I am hoping she can't wait for good reasons and not because she is anxious to begin peeing on her bed again. Only time will tell, but I am hoping for the best. I think we should say yes to a sleepover the second that thing is gone to reinforce the good behavior.
