I'm obsessed with SPERM.

It's official!

I'm obsessed with SPERM.

Well, actually I'm obsessed with getting sperm. My maternal clock is ticking so loud these days that it's keeping me up at night. So I'm off on a quest to find that magical teaspoon of life elixir that will stop the clock and get me pregnant.

For most couples the journey to pregnancy is easy and fun. Stop using birth control, enjoy an active sex life and odds are that sooner or later you'll get pregnant. For us it's not quite that easy. Being a lesbian couple makes us infertile by default...... no SPERM.

So I've begun my crusade.

There are a few different options out there. But while money may be the root of all evil, it's also the solution to most problems. Turns out that buying sperm from a sperm donour bank is expensive. About $1000 a pop! When you factor in that it takes an average of 6 months to achieve a pregnancy with frozen sperm, and often closer to 18 months, the dollars start to add up quickly.

So we are looking into alternatives. If it weren't for all the scary deadly diseases out there I might even consider a drunken night out on the town and take my chances with nameless strangers. While I'm obsessed, I'm not that desperate…..yet.

For now I find myself checking out every man that I see or trying to find ways to include sperm into my conversations with co-workers and new people that I meet. Needless to say I haven't been very successful yet with this approach.

Now on to next steps....maybe a booth at the mall, business cards to hand out, an ad in the paper, a poster at our local university. Lot's of options, none of them particularly great.
